There’s inherent fun in mastering this game and being able to route it by memory, but the whole thing is cut down by good ol’ nebulous “game feel” because it just never controls as tightly as it should. It’s really a shame, too, because if this felt as good to play as a Castlevania or heck, even half as good, this game would actually rock! But even after finishing it and gaining an appreciation for the things it does well, I can absolutely understand why Night Creatures has the reputation it does. I don’t think it’s the worst TurboGrafx-16 game...
