That’s kinda the thing with Janggun-ui Adeul. It’s hard to fully express through words, but it’s the kind of game that seems like janky fun at first, but if you take it seriously and try to get better at it, it begins to unravel in disappointing ways. To play this game well, you essentially have to cheese it at every turn because if you don’t, it’s going to wear you down in dirty and obnoxious ways. Janggun-ui Adeul is one of those anomalies I love to see; a game I don’t think I like, but one I end up thinking about for longer than its actual runtime. Do I secretly dig it? Maybe! Will it someday end up on the list of Master System games I recommend to others despite all its problems? I could see it happening! Time will tell, but I have a feeling that playing Janggun-ui Adeul was for the best.
